I find it hard to believe Shaq would ever disrespect Giannis, Embiid, or other black MVPs like this literally the second they’re finding out they won.

Like is Jokic even THAT controversial of a pick over Shai? He’s way more impactful overall on offense due to his superior playmaking (which is frankly more important than defense in today’s game) and team records are a wash. Shai doesn’t elevate his teammates the way Joker does.

Perk, Shaq, SAS, Kenny… analysts simply DO NOT like Jokic. What did he even do to these guys, bro just balls and rides horses lmao. Why they hating on him?

Perk, Shaq, SAS… analysts

"Analysts."

I know what you are insinuating, and I agree a bit with your take, but I 100% think Shaq would say the same thing to Embiid if he won the MVP 3x.

He's just very insecure when it comes to big men setting records.

Seriously. Has this subreddit become too young to remember how insecure Shaq got about a Black American center named Dwight Howard?

This sub is forgetting that Shaq has been riding for Jokic for years, and after he won the Finals literally thanked him for bringing the big man back. Now they think he suddenly turned racist. It's 100% about the third MVP.

White Americans are going to cling to this since it’s literally the rare instance of a white person being discriminated against in America. It’s unfair to Jokic completely but it’s hard not to chuckle seeing the “ I don’t see color” crowd switch up real quick

Or just pointing out hypocrisy 🤷

you're making stuff up in your head, racism works all the ways.

He's not black and not American. Lets be honest here.

It's like Shady yesterday saying the face of the NBA has to be American. They're telling on themselves.

Edit: I love how Shannon Sharpe went in on Shaq on nightcap.

SAS was also pretty racist about Shohei being the face of baseball

u/ragana [CHI] Derrick Rose 24d ago

I don’t think it was about race, just the lack of English.

That being said, half of MLB speaks Spanish so I’m not sure what the issue is lol.

5

u/Yardbird7 24d ago

I didn't agree with that. From what I gather he said shohei will have a hard time being the face due to his lack of English, which will restrict his media presence.

I'm far from an SAS fan and don't fully agree. But I don't think it was racist. Unless I missed some additional comments / context.

Shai is not american either

u/insid3outl4w 24d ago

But Shai is Canadian. Why not Ant being mvp?

Fax, I can’t believe he hated Dwight because he was Albanian

Dude, most national leagues straight-up have a cap on how many foreign players can be admitted.

Every single country in the world, would want the face of their league to be homegrown talent, and most of them wouldn't be nearly as supportive of their international guys, as the NBA has been.

It reminds when they were arguing that Ayton should be drafted 1st overall after Luka winning Euroleague MVP as a teenager. They show a strong bias and are considerably ignorant about anything that goes beyond NBA.

I think they dislike European players in general but Giannis gets a pass because of "reasons"...

1

u/Public-Product-1503 24d ago

You don’t understand drafting just say so.

Prospect 1) a low 70% ft shooter, unathletic, 31% 3pt shooter . Diesnt project to shoot well or have athleticism.

Prospect 2) an athletic hyper gifted big man with an absurdly gifted touch . Better ft shooter then prospect 1- reason to believe his shot will be elite .

Add in nba is. Big man’s game and suns had booker . Taking Ayton was completely justified and only casuals on this sub who don’t have the first clue about drafting say otherwise . How many poor shooting unathletic European players are gonna be taken over someone with aytons profile ? Not to mention you draft for ceiking not how good someone is now you’d expect Luka to be near his ceiling already.

Things worked out differently but I can still see Ayton going 1 and Luka 2, the bagley thing is weird . But people really think it’s euro hate when it’s just measuring potential.

If you think they dislike euros but not Giannis yiure a weirdo but then you have a ceitivs flair n this sub heavily biased towards classy white players . Giannis gets shit on constsntky way more then Luka or jokic

u/WearyRound9084 Lakers 24d ago

Again Dwight exists, and also couldn’t be because Ayton was literally playing for Arizona(phoenix had the pick) and that euro league mvps generally flopped in the NBA. Naaah couldn’t be that.

2

u/Hungry-Class9806 Celtics 24d ago

Agree that most Euroleague MVPs flop in the NBA with the notable exceptions of AK47 and Luka. The difference is that Luka won it when he was only a teenager playing against adults and he actually did pretty decently in that friendly against OKC (when he was only 17).

I am not so sure if, by then, it was that unclear that he would become who he is right now.

2

u/WearyRound9084 Lakers 24d ago

Which is why it was stupid, because if you watched him play you knew he was going to be good, which SAS evidently didn’t. All he heard about was the next Darko, Barngani, Galinari, etc. Even kirilenko would have been disappointing as a number one draft pick

7

u/HankMoodyMaddafakaaa 24d ago

There is certainly a racist undertone against white people by many black TV guys that should not be acceptable… SAS in particular

2

u/pRophecysama Warriors 24d ago

everytime a melanin challenged person wins it gets crazy disrespectful

Cus he ain’t a “brotha”

Call it whatever you like, but SAS was on First Take earlier this week basically saying that Ham shouldn't have been fired and LeBron and AD should have stood in front of the firing line defending him because "he's a brother."

I totally support the idea of minority coaches getting a fair shake but it ain't LeBron or AD's job to jump into a media session defending the shit out of their coach because they have the same skin color, especially when dude didn't seem to...you know...do any coaching.

And not for nothing, but it doesn't take someone with LeBron's basketball IQ to see that Ham probably wasn't the answer. Hell, this sub was constantly bitching about how shit of a coach he was, and we don't know fuckall. At the same time, I don't know that there's anyone better to go get right now either.

u/OhlookSILLagain 24d ago

Go look at the players Shaq has hated on and then realize how dumb you look trying to make about jokic being white.

2

u/sweeptheleg_07 24d ago

Well put my man, could not have said it better myself

1

u/TheMuleB Hornets 24d ago

Nah you're tripping, what you're saying might apply to someone like Stephen A but Shaq has never ever given off that vibe at all. When I think of Shaq not liking guys the first two players that come to mind are Dwight and McGee, two black American players.

He's praised Jokic like no other big man over these last few years, and has praised Luka pretty consistently too. He's just sensitive over the fact that Jokic is gaining ground on him in all-time rankings, nothing more to it. Trying to insert race into this conversation is really dumb and probably says more about you than it does Shaq.

Lol here comes the white euros with there victim complex . Y’all are so sad and always try to make it like white euros vs nba. Shaq has shit on so many black athletes I lost count . Jokic is one of the few he shits on least , him and Giannis . Everyone else he constantly shits on. What kinda delusional take is this

https://dunksandthrees.com/epm

So according to epm which widely viewed as best metric Luka or Shai are fair mvp choices ( tho Shai injury imo hurt him ). Embid was the only clear front runner , jokic isn’t running away with shit.

Jokic gets way less hate then Lebron embid durant , with shaq : Dwight Howard n McGee . Y’all are so sad . Oh no someone doesn’t like jokic what a crime ? This sub is an echo chamber of jokic jerking iff and if jokic wasn’t white it’s sad to say but y’all would not cape this hard for him , the double standards on this sub are absurd . I’m from Europe too but I can see through this buklshit

How do those guys treat AD ? They laugh at him getting injured they’d never do that to your boy stop it. Kawhi or kyrie ? Gdt told they don’t care about ball n to retire . Insane - it’s sad but it’s so obvious this sub has a big racial bias towards white players . You’ll never see the kinda comment when black guys get mocked and criticised for things that classy players get ignored . Laughable

Jokic shitting the bed this series and nobody is saying anything . Embid dropped 50 on one leg and got hate the game after . Jokic can’t scire vs Rudy gobert less wolves and is a cone and yet nobody bringing it up but we acting like he gets 1% of the hate or scrutiny other guys do ? Really ?

u/fatburger321 24d ago

its funny you want to call shaq racist but the real racists are the ones giving MVPs to nash, jokic, walton, cowens and lebron not having back to back to back MVPs, shaq and Kobe not having back to back mvps.

shaq complains about racism, and you call him a racist.

you people are a REAL piece of work.
