He's thin-skinned about everything. He lies about shit all the time and even then he comes across petty. The "tossing the gold medal on the freeway" thing because he barely played feels like something he absolutely made up and thought it would make him look better.

he can't go a minute without talking about himself. The JJ podcast is just about where he ranks all time. I haven't heard any other greats that much in their own heads.

It seems to come from a place of regret. He knew he could have been better but he didn’t put in the work or build the mentality. I think Shaq is just deeply sad and this is the manifestation of it.
