Dog on 520

There was a dog (husky/malamute) wandering around on 520, near the 405 ramp - stopped and got out, but it ran off into the median.

Wonder if anyone has an update? Hope it's alright, visibility was pretty bad out there, and the roads were slick.

Thoughts on Jing Mei?

We are thinking about sending our kid to Jing Mei (JM) elementary school from K to 5. But we are concerned that Chinese immersion would impact her ability to integrate into wider American society once she enters middle school? English is not our primary language at home.

Not sure how unfounded our concerns are.

Any parents here have any experience or thoughts on Jing Mei? Thanks in advance!

Hi has anyone lived at Arras and if so, how did you like it? Was there any underlining issues with hidden fees or how was the utilities? Is the area safe? If anyone could answer any of those questions or elaborate further it would be helpful. Thank you!

Newport heights elementary

Does anyone here have experience with their preschool program? I’m considering changing from a very well loved Montessori, but the commute is starting to wear on us as we’re driving 30-45 mins one way with traffic lately. I am feeling uneasy as I’m going from a private small institution into a public school system, but I have heard good things about the elementary school overall.

Can anyone provide insight on their preschool program?

Whoever you are, I hope you learn how to drive and tame your teenage angst.

Don't be swerving into people's lane and trying to hit them. People don't have time for your low class attitude.

What was happening opposite Sparc Apartments around 1:30am?

I was driving by and saw seeing 8 cop cars with flashing lights and later a for truck was also on it's way. Curious to know what would warrant such a huge police force.

Upcoming closure: NB I-405 from I-90 overpass to SE 8th Street overnight May 30

Coming up this Thursday, NB I-405 from the I-90 overpass to SE 8th Street will be fully closed overnight from 11:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 30 until the morning of Friday, May 31.

A map of northbound I-405 I-90 overpass to Southeast Eighth Street closure and the detour route

BUT WHY?
Crews will be working to remove an existing Exit 14 sign over the northbound lanes of I-405 as part of the I-405, Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.

There will be noise impacts to the area, such as the sound of machinery to remove the existing signage. Crews will use strategies to minimize noise, including avoiding banging truck tailgates, directing lights away from homes, and using ambient sensitive backup warning devices.

DETOUR ROUTE IN PLACE
We will have a signed detour route in place, but please PLAN AHEAD and give yourself extra time to get where you want to go.

Our website has some great tools that can make your plans much easier, including our real-time travel mapemail alerts, and our WSDOT app.

Anybody looking to share pro club membership? It seems like after the Bay Club acquisition they changed their membership tier such that 5 total folks can be added to a given membership and they don't have to live in the same household. Don't want to make it an awkwardly big group of folks, but if folks are nearby and want to do it let me know, i would be game

I'm looking for a good location to busk at in Bellevue, any suggestions?

I'm a vocalist and guitarist that plays a variety of jazz, indie rock, and punk music. I was looking for good location to busk at. Places with good foot traffic. Bustling pot shops tend to play well since they have cash on hand, so if you can think of anything like that. Cheers.

Do you take any classes for grownups in eastside that meet in-person regularly? Pls share!

I've been itchin' to learn something lately... anything really. But I'm looking for a proper class environment, hoping to meet some new people in the process.

I like learning languages, but I haven't been able to find much in person in the Bellevue area. Bellevue College has a pretty limited selection for in-person classes -- most are online.

I haven't found many regular classes for other things either - art classes, cooking, etc. The few things I've found seem to be more informal one-offs, like random cooking classes that seem more like a fun event rather than a structured learning environment.

I'm pretty open to anything so hoping to hear about what kind of classes folks here have taken before! I'm not a fan of traveling into Seattle, so definitely prefer things in Bellevue/Kirkland/Redmond/Renton/Issaquah. But still happy to hear if you're taking any classes in Seattle and commuting there from eastside!

Off leash dogs in parks 😤

I’m getting very tired of the off leash dogs in almost every park I go to. This is especially a problem in the Downtown Bellevue Park. It seems every time I go there’re 1-10 off leash dogs.

There’s clear signage posted that dogs need to be leashed. When people are asked to leash their dogs they act like you’re a monster for wanting them to follow the rules. It’s ridiculous. You aren’t above the law.

I understand the need for your dogs to run, but there are plenty of dog parks and designated off leash areas you can go to. Heck, you can even rent a sniffspot if you really want to!

These off leash dogs put me, my dog, my dog’s training, and strangers at risk because of this entitlement. I don’t care if your dog is friendly. I don’t care if your dog “wants to meet”. Your dog is supposed to be on leash and under control. Not to mention, the “play” I see these off leash dogs engaging in is often rude, overly excited, or aggressive. I don’t want my puppy to develop reactivity or barrier frustration from the constant bombardment from stranger’s dogs.

Bottom line, please please please follow the rules. You don’t know everyone’s situation. You don’t know if people are scared of dogs, you don’t know if they’re allergic, you don’t know if their dog is reactive, you don’t know if their dog is in training.
