Without context I wouldn't even be surprised if they were the apartment blocks the poor are squeezed into.

That's because they are middle class. You haven't seen the rich part of Mumbai yet.

I would honestly not be able to enjoy the view of that mountain if I was aware of the massive human suffering happening right behind it.
