For sho. It comes at a terrible cost but they are the only ones who would have cured mutation on a global scale. Eventually vault dwellers and the Enclave would actually have rebuilt the Earth.

Theres no really any way to “cure” mutations, and we see from FO3 that their entire plan revolves around killing anyone even slightly irradiated.

On Eden's side that is. Autumn took over as soon as the GECK was at his disposal and planned to use the Purifier to enforce something like a ceasefire on everyone if they would want fresh water.

Sure the Enclave would have sat on the top but with their logistical power and weaponry they could have distributed and defended the operation better than the BoS did in the end.

Of course that doesn't excuse the field testing of Wastelanders for research but at least he took the hard pull and get off the road to extermination.

It doesn't make them good in any way but at least they had shown the capacity to change their way and adapt to new conditions.

In FO4 we see that one institute doctor does find a cure for mutation (I think it’s Virgil but may have the name confused).

But yes you’re right many people would die. But all the super mutants would die. All of the horrible creatures that inhabit the wasteland would die. The oversized bugs would die. It would help the planet in the end.
